Privacy policy
Effective 10 October 2026

This policy covers the apps and games published by Sidewalk in New Zealand, starting with Roguelike Trivia, and this website. In short: the games work offline without an account; if you use online features we keep only what they need; we don't sell your data; and you can delete your account and everything in it at any time.
Playing offline
Your progress, settings and purchases are stored on your phone. Nothing is sent to us unless you use an online feature: Friends, groups, notifications, or signing in to back up your progress.
What we collect when you go online
Your account
An account ID. If you sign in with Google or Apple, the email address and account identifier they share with us.
Why: To sign you in, back up your progress and restore it on another phone.
Profile and friends
The username and friend code you choose, your level and game statistics, your friends, friend requests and groups.
Why: To show your card to friends and group members, and run leaderboards.
Messages and posts
Messages you send to friends, and chat and posts in groups.
Why: To deliver them. They are only visible to the people they were sent to.
Game progress
Backups of your progress: level, currencies, upgrades, unlocks, run history, daily games, purchase records and some settings. The costumes you own.
Why: To restore your progress and costumes on a new phone and across Sidewalk apps.
Daily game results
Whether you won each daily game and in how many guesses (never your answers).
Why: To compare results with friends.
Notifications
A push notification token for your device, and which notifications you want.
Why: To send notifications you have turned on.
Subscription status
When your ad-free subscription ends.
Why: To turn off ads and allow features that need a subscription.
Advertising
Free versions of our games show ads from Google AdMob, including ads you choose to watch for rewards. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and information about your device to show and measure ads. Where the law requires it, such as in the EEA and UK, you are asked for consent first and can change your choice from the game's profile screen. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. The ad-free subscription turns ads off.
Who else handles your data
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in, where accounts, friends, messages and backups are stored.
- Google: Google Sign-In, AdMob (ads), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications) and Google Play (downloads and purchases).
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, the App Store and Apple's notification service, on iPhone.
They process data for us under their own terms and privacy policies. Some of them store data outside New Zealand. Payments are handled entirely by Google Play or the App Store; we never see your card details.
What other players see
Friends and members of your groups can see your username, level, statistics, what your orb is wearing, and your daily game results. Other players only find you by your friend code, and you can turn that off or change it at any time.
How long we keep it
- Your account and profile: until you delete your account.
- Backups: the latest three versions of each game's progress.
- Messages between friends: deleted a day after they are read.
- Group chat and posts: deleted after 30 days.
Deleting your account
In the game, go to Profile → Account → Delete account. This immediately deletes your account, username, friends, messages, groups you are in, backups, costumes, notification settings and push tokens from our servers, and everything on your phone. Groups you own pass to another member. You can also ask us to delete it on the web.
Your rights
Under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, and similar laws where you live, you can ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact us and we will reply within 20 working days.
Children
Our games are not directed at children under 13, and the online features are for players 13 and over. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
All data is sent over encrypted connections. Our database only lets each player read their own data and their friends', and anything involving another player goes through checks on the server.
This website
This website doesn't use advertising or tracking cookies. If you use the contact or deletion form, we use what you send only to reply to you.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update it here and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will also tell you in the game.
